Hello, Gender Studies for All visitors! I wanted to let you know I have recently left teaching for the exciting world of instructional coaching! This site will remain open for anyone who would like to use the resources I have shared. However, I have created a new site for schools and teachers to learn more about my work as an instructional coach. Visit it at www.lindsaybethlyons.com. I would love to help you or others at your school develop relevant and engaging project-based curriculum. I also help teachers meaningfully integrate technology into their instruction. Finally, I help schools amplify opportunities for student voice. For a brief overview of the latter, read this short article in The Source. Find out more about each of my three areas of expertise on my new website, where I have linked digital portfolios of my work in these areas. You can also contact me through my new site with questions or requests for proposals. Keep at it, feminist educators! Together, we can engage students, inspire teachers, and advance educational equity.

Agenda:
This semester, my principal asked I focus on preparing students more explicitly for the ELA Regents. Therefore, this semester was far less project based and more focused on particular skills of reading comprehension, analysis, test taking strategies, and becoming familiar with the particulars of the 2 of the 3 parts of the ELA Regents - Part 1: Multiple Choice; Part 3: Literary Analysis (2-3 paragraphs). Agendas:
This year, I wanted students to spend more time trying to change issues about which they are passionate. We spent an entire semester incorporating different styles of research and detailed data analysis. Most of the projects were focused on attitude or behavior change, which takes much longer than a short project would allow for. Agenda
This unit was structured around C-SPAN's annual Student Cam competition. Students chose a problem the new administration should work to solve in 2017, provided evidence of the issue, used video of politicians' discussing the issue, and interviewed experts. The project was designed to assess research skills, argument organization, technology use, and creativity students had practiced in our earlier mini units. This unit was very loosely organized. Students worked in their groups, and I simply provided resources (google docs, optional in-class workshops, short mini lessons/reminders).
