Today, I attended a PD that addressed bridging the gap between various types of diversity in the classroom using group routines. Rhonda Bondie's ideas are research-based and many teachers have found success using her teaching strategies. Below, I've outlined my takeaways & some ideas for how I plan to apply them in my class. Today's lesson served as a "publishing" opportunity for students to share their media critiques. As this was a media unit, students transformed their papers into a 120-character tweet (followed by the 20-character #genderstudiesforall). Agenda
Reflections
Whenever we're working on a project, there's always some students who finish early, some who finish right on time, and some who don't turn anything in when the due date finally arrives. I have not yet found a perfect solution to accommodate these multiple timelines, but I have found the last couple of days to be productive for nearly all (if not all) students. The Process
After reading students' papers, there were a few things with which most students struggled. Below are a few resources I will direct students to use as they revise & edit their papers for the next 2 days in class. If anyone has suggestions of resources to use to explain these areas of struggle, feel free to share! Grammar struggles
