To introduce the new unit, students worked in groups to look at statistics, artistic writing, and informational writing pertaining to the 4 possible topics they could choose to research. At the end of the class, they selected their first and second choices for topics. *Note: This lesson was done in 3 out of 4 classes with a substitute, so the agenda has fewer parts than it might normally.
